Old Youngs Bay Bridge

Classic Double-Leaf Bascule

Old Youngs Bay Bridge, a double-leaf bascule, remains Conde B. McCullough’s oldest existing coastal bridge and, so far as we know, one of his first movable-span bridges. Nearly a century old at this writing and still in excellent working condition, the bridge raises and lowers daily, primarily for commercial fishing boats working off the mouth of the Columbia River. Recent work has improved its overall condition.
